Replacing certain fixtures in your home doesn't require a building permit in Florida, as long as the replacements don't involve reorganizing the accessories. According to Section 105 of the Florida Building Code, most construction-related work requires a permit. However, there are certain real estate improvements that don't need one. The work must still meet the minimum standards of the code.
The Department of Construction has provided a table to help clarify the current permit requirements. The exemptions listed in this section only refer to the permit requirements of the Florida Building Code, unless otherwise indicated. Other state and county regulatory departments and agencies may require approvals or permits.
